SEATTLE - Two of the top five places to start your life or career over again in this recession are in Eastern Washington, according to a new ranking.

Business Week Magazine says the Tri-Cities and Yakima are the third and fourth best places respectively due to expected hiring trends, home prices and quality of life.
The magazine says 24 percent of companies in the Kennewick-Richland-Pasco area are planning to hire in the third quarter. Most of those jobs will be in nondurable goods, transportation, utilities, wholesale, retail, professional and business services, education, health, leisure, hospitality and government.
In addition, the median price for a home in January was $133,000.
Yakima is also expected to have 24 percent of its companies hiring in the third quarter. Expect those jobs to mostly be in construction, nondurable goods, transportation, utilities, financial activities, professional and business services, leisure and hospitality.
Business Week touts Yakima's agricultural area which produces apples, wines and about 75 percent of all hops.
Median home prices there were $125,000 in January.
The No. 1 city on the list was Anchorage, followed by Provo and Orem, Utah. Omaha, Neb. And Council Bluffs, Iowa ranked No. 5.
Business Week's potential hiring numbers are based on surveys done by employment service Manpower. Home prices were provided by Zillow.com.
