Three King County Sheriff's deputies have been placed on administrative leave while they are investigated for unspecified actions.

Sheriff John Urquhart sent a department-wide email on Wednesday announcing the move but providing few details. Urquhart did not list the officers' names, but wrote, "Two are assigned to the Ravensdale Range and the third is assigned to Major Crimes."

The Ravensdale Range is located near Maple Valley.

Law enforcement sources said multiple search warrants have been served in connection with the investigation.

The sheriff said he sent the email to "quell" rumors about why the officers were placed on leave yesterday. He said more information would be provided when possible.

Urquhart declined to comment when contacted by KING 5 News.

Sources told KING 5 News that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is involved in the investigation. But an ATF spokesperson said the agency is not involved.
