One person was killed and another person injured in a head-on collision on Highway 99 in Lynnwood Tuesday.
The crash happened just before 10:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes on Highway 99 at 176th. When police arrived, they found one of the drivers had died and the second driver with serious injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased driver, a woman in her 70s, was driving south on SR 99 when her vehicle started to veer into the oncoming traffic lanes. Her car struck another vehicle head-on, killing the woman in her 70s and injuring the driver of the oncoming car, a woman in her 40s. The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment.
No other riders or drivers were injured.
Northbound SR 99 traffic was closed for several hours during the police investigation; it has since reopened.
