EVERETT, Wash.-A man remains in the hospital after a tree fell on the roof of his car during Saturday’s storm. Aaron Rice, 48, said he was driving when the wind knocked over the tree.
"I just said I was dead, that's what I thought, I thought I was dead," said Rice.
Washington State Patrol responded to the accident on SR 203 just outside of Monroe. Rice said he was trapped inside his convertible Ford Mustang until firefighters cut off the roof to get him out.
"I seen this tree coming right at me and I had enough time just to get on the brakes," said Rice.
He was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. Rice has a cracked sternum, a compression fracture in his back, and a head injury, according to his wife.
"It was a close call, really close," said Rice
He is expected to be released from the hospital Monday.
