lakeland, you are so right!! Many years ago I was a victim of bullying and mean girls - and boys! I had a weight problem due to a slow metabolism, yet when I finally found some pictures from that time, I thought - hey - I didn't look thaaat bad!! There are many cruel people out there and unfortunately it rubs off on their kids. I can look back many, many years (I'm 70) and think of how their cruelty affected me, but, thank God, it was so intense that one day I turned it around. Not only did it make me super weight-conscious (and eating healthy) for the rest of my life, but maybe in the last few years I finally learned who I am. The worst part came after our youngest son was killed a few years ago, yet I pulled out of the depression and finally managed to lose 72 lbs. - it is a struggle to keep it off, but so worthwhile! I guess I will never understand how mean people can be to others, but I wonder if deep inside they will ever find true peace.

I agree that there is a mean girl problem but I think we also need to look at the mean moms, kids learn more from watching then we would care to admit. Where do you think the mean girls learn how to be mean?
