Closing arguments continue this week in Italy, in the appeals case of Amanda Knox, who was convicted of taking part in the murder of her British roommate in 2007. Amanda is now serving a 26-year prison sentence.
The former University of Washington student maintains her innocence and appealed her conviction in 2009.
An appeals court is expected to rule in the case by the end of the week. Prosecutors stand by their case and are urging Jurors to ignore the doubt that’s been cast on key forensic evidence.
But Amanda’s lawyers say there is no motive and virtually no evidence tying Amanda to the murder and that she should be freed.
King 5 News Investigative Reporter Linda Byron has been covering the case from the start—and will be covering the ruling in Italy. We welcomed Linda on New Day to share with us the latest news about the Amanda Knox Trial.
