Owners of a Spanaway company raided by the feds are denying they’ve been ripping off the federal food stamp program.
Chris Maselka, the owner of Iowa Steak Company, said one of his employees has admitted to buying food stamps. However, Maselka said he has no reason to believe it’s a widespread problem at his company.
“I didn’t know this was going on,” Maselka said of the federal investigation.
Law enforcement sources told KING 5 that the company Iowa Steak Company, a licensed food stamp merchant, is under investigation for food stamp trafficking.
The company’s salesmen travel the Puget Sound and sell frozen meat and seafood door-to-door.
