King County Executive Dow Constantine has ordered an inquest into the fatal shooting of Maurice Clemmons – the man who shot and killed four Lakewood police officers.
Seattle police officer Benjamin Kelly fatally shot Clemmons during an early morning confrontation on December 1.
Clemmons had been the subject of a two-day manhunt after killing the officers in a Parkland coffee shop.
Now, the KING 5 Investigators obtained audio recordings of Maurice Clemmons, and for the first time, we hear Clemmons talk about his life, his criminal background, and why he was let out of jail just days before the killings.
Relatives of Clemmons say he gunned down the four officers after going off the deep end and he was a man with a mental illness who hadn't been making sense for months.
But exactly three months before the murders, Clemmons appeared in court before a hearings officer sounding lucid and sensible.
