How to prevent overuse injuries

Dr. Wendy Sue Swanson explains injuries that happen from doing the same physical activity over and over again. New recommendations encourage parents to get their kids involved in more than one sport.

An overuse injury is damage to a bone, muscle, ligament, or tendon due to repetitive stress without allowing time for the body to heal. Shin splints are an example of an overuse injury, according to HealthyChildren.org
