SEATTLE - It’s a Shoreline home that represents a lifetime of hard work for Lauren Moughon.

"I called it the mini palace," said Lauren. "It was only 1350 square feet, but it was a cute as could be. Three bedrooms, beautiful cherry hardwood floors and for a while I was really, really happy in it."

But when Washington Mutual went under, so did Lauren's job. And her dream of home ownership was in peril.

"Our bank was seized by the FDIC and Chase purchased it and laid about 5,000 of us off," she said.

Lauren thought she was in a good position as speechwriter for CEO Kerry Killinger. But that didn't matter. She was out of work and quickly running into financial trouble.

"After five months, I didn't have any money left to make my mortgage payments, so I tried to make a short sale," Lauren said.

She sent all of her information to Chase, but it seemed the bank couldn't get it together.

"We had to fax them things over and over again, and they wouldn't return our phone calls," she explained.

During this time, three prospective buyers loved the house but not the wait.

Realtor Chuck Cady was impressed that Lauren kept the yard in perfect condition. She didn't walk off with the appliances and made sure the rest of the home was in top shape.

Chuck says Chase's house was the one not in order.

"We literally were given the runaround for nearly nine months," said Chuck. "We were giving them the same documents over and over again."

Josh Norris was the fourth person trying to buy the home and he was running out of patience.

"It was waiting for the bank is all I kept hearing," Josh said.

Lauren was desperate, so she called me.

One call to Chase later:

"The next day, Chase called me and within a week, the deal was done," Lauren said. "I just really, I needed this to end, so I'm intensely grateful."

Now one nightmare ends and another dream of home ownership begins. Lauren lost a little money, but she's glad the ordeal is over.

As for Chase, they didn't have a whole lot to tell us, but said they escalated Lauren's issue and are happy they were able to resolve it.

Again...shame on Chase. I have been in their "home modification" program for 9 months and still not offered a trial period. They continually to make excuses and lose paperwork! They dont even notifiy you if something is need....What do they get out of this if you lose your home?

"Lauren lost a little money" what money sounds to me like Chase is the one that lost money on this deal. Just another idiot that over paid for a house and when things don't work out just cry victim and the sluff the house off to the bank. In a couple years or sooner your going to be right back at your real estate office trying to buy another over priced pos house and begging some bank to make your dream a reality. I wonder how many mortgage payments she made during the time she was waiting for the short sale to go through my guess is 9 months free rent.

This is happening to us right now. Chase is impossible to work with! We've had 3 offers on our house since December and Chase won't approve any of them. They call us at least 6 times a day wondering when they are going to get paid and yet they won't approve the offers on the table. JESSE WE NEED YOU TO HELP US TOO!!!

Chase stinks! As well as BofA. Do business with a credit union!

What a beautiful home. I'm so happy that, with Jesse's help, Lauren was finally able to get her home sold. Chase should be ashamed. My husband lost his job and while other of our financial institutions were more than happy to help when things got difficult, Chase was not only unhelpful -- but raised fees and ramped up the pressure on us. I will never work with them again. There are so many facing difficultly right now, Chase should try harder to be a part of the solution -- not the probelm.

if a person doesn't know how to do their job, they need to ask. I worked for a bank in the call center for 6 years. people who had been there for a few years didn't have a clue who to call or where to look for something. I once had a guy who had been trying for a year to get his IRS tax refund. apparently the bank put it into the wrong acct. he had checked the acct number with the IRS, and they said it was correct. he went into a branch and they gave him the other persons acct number, they shouldn't have, but they didn't help him beyond that. He had called many man times. I looked up the other acct, called 1 back office dept and was told yes it was put into the wrong acct. of course the other person spent it.....I then handed this all off to my dept supervisor. it's really not hard to learn how to do something, just ask questions!

Chase isn't looking for any more bad press. It's amazing to me how fast issues are resolved when the media/press get involved. Nice job Jesse!
