Gameshow Dynamos produced by Seattle filmmaker

Gameshow Dynamos premiers

SEATTLE - Bernard and Claire Boiko appeared in more game shows than any other couple in American history.

Their daughter, Seattle's Patricia Boiko, made a movie about this game show duo. 'Gameshow Dynamos' took 15 years to complete, and was a labor of love for this producer/director.

The movie is a romp through vintage game shows, with the Boikos winning cash and fabulous prizes.

But they were doing this because they had to. In the 1950s, the Boikos were struggling to feed their growing family on Bernard's teaching salary.

"We were in a lot of debt. My father said he owed the bread man money, he owed the milkman money, he owed the gas station money," said Patricia.

The Boikos began paying the bills with their brains: Jeopardy. Tic Tac Dough. To Tell the Truth. They did 28 game shows in all. They had that combination of smarts and personality that game show producers love.

At 89, Boiko's mother Claire Boiko does not do game shows anymore, but she still works her brain like a game show contestant. She says it's the secret to staying young:

"Absolutely, you have to keep your mind active. You can't live in the past, there's always so much to look forward to."

Game Show Dynamos is also a love story. Bernard Boiko succumbed to cancer in 1999. But the movie keeps the memories alive for his family, especially Claire.

"I am so happy it's done and I am so happy she's still here to see it," said Patricia . "Because that was my biggest fear in the last five years when I was so struggling to finish this; that she wouldn't be here to see it."

"It's nice to be able to go back and revisit old times and see the kids when they were younger and see Bernard again," said Claire.

Now that Gameshow Dynamos is hitting the big screen, and even getting raves from another local game show celebrity, Ken Jennings, everyone's a winner.

"It's an absolute dream come true," said Patricia.

Gameshow Dynamos is currently screening on the east coast. It will soon be available on DVD. For more information on the movie, go towww.gameshowdynamos.com.
