ROBERT, La. -- Video released by BP shows oil spewing from a yellowish, broken pipe 5,000 feet below the surface. The oil looks like steam rushing from a geyser.

The video released Wednesday gives a not-yet-seen glimpse of the leaking well a mile underwater. The stream occasionally can be seen becoming lighter as natural gas mixes into the gusher.

Natural gas has been flowing from the well since the beginning. BP's Doug Suttles says the rate natural gas has been flowing out hasn't changed in the 21 days since the Deepwater Horizon exploded in the Gulf of Mexico.

Watch the video above to see a live video of the spill. If the video is black, try this link instead.

@swatkins1983, I think anonymoususer was referring to the video... not the spill itself.

It is June 13 and the story says May 25. I wonder what he true story is NOW re the subsurface/lateral leaks, There is more than one leak. Is this old footage too, to accompany the old story? (BP was caught running a loop earlier in this megadisaster) rense.com This is a new ballgame compared to all time #2 leak from Ixtoc1 of yore.

All I want to know is when BP's 48 hours is up is obama going to walk onto the scene and resolve the problem in ten minutes. I think rather than threats obama could have shown some much more positive leadership and working together with BP to resolve this issue. But it just isn't in his partisan way of doing business so we will all suffer for it.

I just cannot believe all the reporters and onlookers in the gulf feel the need to handle what is washing ashore. Someone ought to tell them how toxic this stuff is.. One word.. BENZENE!!

anti, you are right, that deepwater well and its lack of safety devices was designed, approved and permitted by bush &co. Its you guys who don't want any government regulation to interfere with your 'free market'. I say let the "drill baby drill" states clean it up without any US government help. bush got bad press for katrina because he nominated an idiot Arabian horse show judge to head FEMA, not like Clintons James Lee Witt. You guys don't believe in Government so when you get elected you put morons in high places then you say "look, government doesn't work" All these red southern states take more federal money from the government than its citizens pay in taxes., leaving us more progressive and wealthier states to make up the difference.

This is not real. Oil dispersion would make the water murkey instead of being so clear............... It is a continuous loop. I guess they want us to focus on this instead of north korea, iran, and Israel.

This must all be the fault of the Bush-Cheney-Halliburton-Trilateral Commission-Black Helicopter cabal. It is payback for Lousiana for all the bad press Bush received over Katrina. You know that Bush and Cheney rented diving gear and went down to depth and planted explosives on this pipe. The forensic investigation spearheaded by our dear leader, Obama "The One", will reveal these truths. There isn't anything that can't be blamed on Bush....right Nancy Pelosi/ Harry Reid?

199502000$ That’s a lot of money and thats what its going to cost them to clean up the mess at 4337.00$ dollars a barrel cleanup cost thats what they charged Exxon with when the Exxon Valdez leaked 500000 gallons of oil. BP's really showing the world the cost of irresponsibility in this case 1 They were not prepared for a oil spill. 2 They did not have a viable contingence plan in place 3 They reacted slowly moving equipment and man power to the location Negligently allowing major damage and ecological damage to occur

Why don't they just unbolt it just under the cut and rebolt a good connection. It seems dumb to do this cutting thing...???

No, the oil is not spewing from the pipe. It's just there. The pipe is probably some of the garbage they threw down there during "Top Kill". If the pipe were removed you'd see the gaping gash the oil is coming from, just adjacent the pipe. That was how this image looked before Top Kill, anyway. It actually LOOKS like it's spewing more, but that's probably just illusion caused by the debris.

If that is a steel pipe spewing all that oil, then why can't they drop a very heavy object on it and squeeze it shut?

This is another horrible oil mess that will cause millions of dollars to clean up. BP will probably try to get help from our government and I for one will be really upset if we help pay for the clean up. The oil companies have made billions of dollars in profit. Let them pay for their mess.
