The legal fight is on over a proposed ban on jogging and horseback ridding in the Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge near Squim.

State Rep Kevin Van De Wege said he may look into legislation to stop a wildlife -protecting easement the state granted to the federal government for part of the refuge.

Van De Wege says the federal proposal is unreasonable and it will have a negative impact on the people who live in the area as well as those who visit the refuge.  he says jogging and horseback riding have created few problems for the area.

Dungeness National Wildlife Refuge is visited by 80,000 people a year, including 160 horseback riders and even fewer joggers.
