Posted on November 2, 2009 at 11:04 AM

NEW YORK (AP) — Rick Riordan has again summoned the ancient spirits.

The author of the million-selling "Percy Jackson" series has started "The Kane Chronicles," in which Egyptian gods are revived in modern times.

The Disney Book Group announced Monday that the first installment, "The Kane Chronicles, Book One: The Red Pyramid," comes out in May.

The "Percy Jackson" books, which drew upon Greek mythology, concluded last spring. A film version of the first Jackson story, "The Lightning Thief," will be released in February.
