SEATTLE – The University of Washington is warning about more budget cuts after the State of Washington announced its budget deficit will be worse than previously projected.
In a letter to students, faculty and staff, the university says it will do all it can "to preserve the University's core instructional activities and reduce wherever possible administrative costs, but at this point it is impossible for the effects of further reductions not to be felt throughout the University."
UW says it is still one of the most competitive schools in competing for federal research funding and donors are giving to the university in near-record levels. But, UW says declining sate revenue is its "Achilles heel."
