Getting back into the swing of school after summer break can be hard for parents and students. School is still a few weeks away, but feeling anxious about starting kindergarten, middle school or high school is normal for children.

Christie Johnson sat down with teachers and parents to find out simple ways you can prepare your children for the new school year.

Do you have a child who is making the jump from elementary school to middle school? Teachers say it's important to focus on routines at home and set up a plan for tackling homework.

Parents with children who are starting kindergarten should go to any school open houses, start talking about what they will do in class and send children to school in clothes and backpacks that are easy for them to handle on their own.

Teachers' number one piece of advice is for the parents: Don't be nervous, and your children won't be either.
