SEATTLE, Wash. -- Just a day before the start of school, Seattle teachers voted to accept a new contract. Classes will begin as scheduled on Wednesday.
Teachers met at Benaroya Hall at 5 p.m. to vote on the new deal.
The Seattle Education Association and the school district reached a tentative agreement over the weekend.
The issues under debate included how to use test scores in evaluating teachers and whether to add 30 minutes to elementary teachers' official workday.
