If you live with a dog, a New York City-based dog research group wants to see you play.

Researchers at The Horowitz Dog Cognition Lab at Barnard College in New York City are gathering videos of people playing with their dogs.

Project: Play with Your Dog is open to anyone, in any country. Researchers say it's a rare opportunity for dog owners across the globe to get involved in scientific research into dog behavior.

Simply find or make a 30-60 second video of you and your dog playing in whatever way you like, and then upload the video to the website and complete a short survey. The video must capture both you and your dog playing together onscreen.

You are also invited to add a picture of you and your dog the Wall of Contributors.

Submit your video by March 31, 2013.

The lab is led by Professor Alexandra Horowitz, Professor of Psychology at Barnard College and author of "Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know."

The group investigates the behavior and cognition of domestic dogs in their natural environments and recruits dogs and owners to participate in studies.
