There's a lot happening this first weekend in August, especially since it's the end of Seafair. Lynn Jacobson, features editor at The Seattle Times, joined KING 5 to talk about "what's going on."
Hydro races, an air show, kids' activities and food and beer gardens will all be happening this weekend at Seafair, Seattle's annual party for itself, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Genesee Park. If you can't get enough of hydros and jets, the Museum of Flight will be displaying historic versions of both on Saturday and Sunday. Barbecue, beer gardens and fun for kids will also be on the menu at the museum.
It's a little past the weekend, but worth mentioning: Every Tuesday and Thursday evening this summer, a dance floor is laid out in a local park and the public is invited to dance to live or DJ'd music. Next Tuesday there will be tango in Westlake Plaza; on Thursday it's swing in Freeway Park. Grab your dancing shoes and a partner, and dance for free outdoors.
The Seattle Opera's performance of Richard Vagner's The Ring begins on Sunday with the first cycle of the four-part work. See a trailer by the Seattle Opera.
