PORTLAND -- A new hotel in Portland, Ore., is making a big impression all because of its unique size. It's a tiny house hotel - the first of its kind in the country.

Guests will find it tucked behind the hustle and bustle of Northeast Alberta Street.

Caravan Tiny House Hotel consists of three tiny houses ranging in size from 90 to 160 square feet. But despite their diminutive size they have all the basic amenities like running water, flushing toilets, hot showers, WiFi, even complimentary coffee.

The hotel opened in July and is already booked for most of August.

The owners of Caravan Tiny House Hotel recognized the growing movement to live small and say their hotel gives visitors the chance to test it out.

Dana Cotton stayed at the hotel with her husband and two teenage daughters.

“Living in New York, we think of it as a sacrifice having to live in a small space. But here, it really feels like a privilege. We're not taking up that much room but yet we have all this space,” explained Cotton.

In addition to its small environmental footprint, the hotel has also incorporated recycled wood and metal into its design.

It’s all part of its "green theme."

The cost to rent one of these tiny houses is $125 per night plus tax.
