A designer dress that was originally $4,000 was priced at only about $1,200 at Blue Sky Bridal. Kim Holcomb of Evening Magazine profiled the bridal consignment store in this segment of "Thrifting Thursday."
"We can save people up to $2,000 on their dress," said Jen West of Blue Sky Bridal. "That's flowers, DJ. It makes a big difference."
Even the best brands were 40 to 75 percent off.
West specializes in bridal consignment, selling pre-owned dresses in pristine condition for deep discounts. It's a unique form of recycling.
"I cannot stand waste," West said. "It just gets to me."
The idea for the store came to West when she was a bride searching for an affordable dress. She searched Craigslist and found a used gown that fit her budget.
Now she outfits brides using a similar approach in an upscale environment.
An appointment is necessary to see the dresses at Blue Sky Bridal, but there is also an online gallery of dresses. Visit Blue Sky Bridal's website for more information.
