A North Dakota woman won't be handing out treats to everyone this Halloween. She says she'll be giving out letters to kids who she believes are "moderately obese."
The woman said that she wanted to send a message to parents of these children. In a call to a radio show, the woman said it's up to community to solve the problem of obesity.
An assistant professor of clinical psychology said this letter could hurt more than it helps.
Dr. Katie Gordon of North Dakota State University said, "It's just that kid of thing that for some kids, if they're vulnerable, might trigger major problems."
Dr. Gordon said it's important to remember that a person's appearance does not necessarily reflect whether the individual has healthy eating and exercising habits.
