A KING 5 viewer submitted photos of an intense face-off between eagles and hawks on Friday, May 30.

Funston also submitted the account of witnessing the chase in action:

"Coming home this morning I see an adult eagle sitting in a tree near Island Crossing. As I pulled up, a juvenile decided to join the adult. After several minutes, both of them started yelling. When I looked up, a third (adult) eagle was coming in and he was mad. The juvenile takes off with the new adult on his tail. The adult chased the juvenile all over and after a while I lost sight of them. The other adult (I believe a female) was still in the tree. That is when the hawk showed up and let the eagle know she wasn't welcome in the neighborhood. The first shot is the hawk coming in, then dive bombing the eagle."
