SPOKANE, Wash.-- The fire department’s Special Investigation Unit launched a probe into the cause of a house fire that started Thursday afternoon in northeast Spokane.  

The Spokane Fire Department responded to the scene, near the interscetion of East Bruce Road and North Altamont Street at around 12:06 p.m.  First responders reported heavy fire in the attic of a single-story home. Crews were able to extinguish the fire within 30 minutes according to the fire department.

The fire created $75,000 in damage, but no one was injured according to fire officials. The residents of the home, two adults and two children, are being assisted by the local chapter of the American Red Cross. A cat was given CPR by fire crews.
