The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reviewed the state Ecology department's enforcement of federal clean air and clean water law. The audit also looks at Ecology's oversight of the Hanford Site -- the 586-square-mile reservation in southeastern Washington where millions of gallons of highly radioactive waste is stored. Ecology oversees much of the cleanup activities at Hanford under an agreement signed with the Department of Energy and EPA.
