3 schools locked down after armed confrontation in Federal Way

Three schools were placed in lockdown Thursday after a man allegedly pulled a gun on another man walking in Federal Way. The suspect is now in custody.

It happened around 9:45 a.m. in the 2600 block of SW 327th Street, next to Olympic View Elementary in the Twin Lakes neighborhood.

Federal Way Police said a 19-year-old man was walking when an 18-year-old approached in a vehicle, showed a handgun and made threats. Police said there was no known relationship between the two.

The victim gave police a description of the vehicle and license number, which police used to track down the suspect at his home. He managed to escape out the back, but was later spotted by a detective in the area and taken into custody.

Police said the suspect will be booked on a felony threats with weapons charge.

Olympic View Elementary, Twin Lakes Elementary and Decatur High School were briefly placed in lockdown.
