A King County Superior Court Judge has reduced bail for accused serial rapist Danford Grant, a Seattle attorney.
Judge Mary Yu reduced bail from $3 million to a $1 million unsecured bond backed by Grant’s mother, agreeing with defense attorneys that he is not a flight risk.
Grant, 47, is now charged with seven felony counts including four charges of first degree rape. Prosecutors say all of the alleged victims were employees of Asian massage parlors in the Seattle area.
It was revealed in court that Grant may have also tried to impersonate a police officer in order to take advantage of one of his victims.
“(Grant) has shown violent and compulsive behavior,” said prosecuting attorney Valiant Richey. “He has also shown an ability to research his victims, stalk them and use that information to intimidate them.”
"His family wants him and needs him,” Grant’s attorney Richard Hansen argued in court. “His mother and his wife is fully supporting. He is as close to his children as any father could be.”
Grant’s wife was also in the courtroom.
A trial date has not been set.
