Woman hit with baton during robbery at Renton ATM

A man with a baton attacked a woman in an attempted robbery at an ATM in Renton, Wash., Nov. 11, 2012. Deputies say the man hit the woman over the head with the baton and broke out a car window.

A man who tried to rob a woman at an ATM in Renton last weekend hit her over the head with a baton then broke out her car window as she tried to escape.

The King County Sheriff’s Office said it happened at 7:42 a.m. Sunday at the BECU ATM in the 14400 blk of SE Petrovitsky Rd,

The victim was making a deposit when a man walked up behind her and asked for her PIN. When the woman turned around, the man hit her in the head with a collapsible baton, said a sheriff’s office spokesperson. The man kept asking for the PIN and hit the woman in the head again.

The victim ran to her vehicle, but the suspect ran after her and broke her driver’s side window with the baton as the woman tried to get away.

The suspect left in a flat black, 1990s BMW with matching molding and dark tinting on all the windows.

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, 5-feet 8-inches tall with light-colored hair and a thin nose. He was wearing a black ski mask, black jacket and black gloves.

In addition to the baton, he had some type of holster on his right hip.
