Olympia Police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with an assault on a woman who was walking her dog Monday morning. The assault appeared to have been sexually motivated.

A 21-year-old man was arrested for outstanding warrants and was subsequently positively identified as the suspect in the case.

Police say the suspect is a transient living in the Olympia area.  He will be booked into the Thurston County Jail after questioning by detectives.

The assault happened around 9:30 a.m. Monday on the Woodland Trail. The woman told police the man pulled her into some bushes and assaulted her.

A City of Olympia spokesperson said the woman was able to convince the attacker to release her and she escaped without injury.

Police closed a section of the Woodland Trail while using K-9 units to search for the attacker.
