TACOMA, Wash. -- Tacoma police are looking for a suspect involved in a brutal attack early Monday morning.
The incident happened at Tender Heart Learning Center near Pacific Avenue South and South 80th Street.
The suspect met the woman as she was opening the business, claiming he had a child to enroll.
The woman let the man in and he badly beat her. The suspect fled when her co-worker arrived. Responding police could not locate the suspect.
Amber Parker said she worked at the daycare more than a year ago, and knows the owner and several workers.
"This is their passion. They love children and for someone to come in and do this is unspeakable," said Parker. "Thank god she was not killed. This guy that is on the run needs to turn himself in and do the right thing."
Tacoma police said the suspect is a black male in his mid twenties. He is describe as 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a narrow face and short afro. A suspect sketch could be released mid-morning Tuesday, according to Officer Loretta Cool.
The victim was transported to the hospital. She was so badly hurt Monday that investigators held off on an in-depth interview. Officers will try to talk to her Tuesday.
