TACOMA -- A Tacoma mom who police said called 911 to say she had "just murdered her child" reported hearing voices, court documents state.
Aleesha Walker, 28, was charged Monday with first degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old son. He was found dead by police on Friday, March 30.
In court, Walker appeared dazed and bewildered. She is being held without bail and was ordered to undergo an evaluation.
Court documents stated Walker called 911 around 7:00 a.m. Friday and said she struck the boy's head on a dresser and smothered him after she heard voices, and believed the devil was present.
"I did this to him," Walker is heard saying in the 911 call. "I am an evil person. I did this to my son...I am sick and I did this to my baby because I thought it was what I was supposed to do."
Pierce County prosecutors reported Child Protective Services has had several encounters with Walker. The first was in May 2010 when her son was two-months old. CPS workers were called to investigate alleged drug use and poor hygiene, but no evidence was found on either count. In 2011, CPS was called to investigate three times, but no signs of abuse or neglect were ever found.
