TUMWATER, Wash . -- A 13-year-old boy charged with murdering his father last month will attend his father's funeral this weekend.
According to deputies, the 13-year-old suspect shot and killed his father, Jimmie Asher Jr., with a .17 rifle while the man slept in his bed on October 23.
Officials close to the case said the suspect will bail out of juvenile detention, and will be allowed to attend Asher's funeral on Saturday.
After interviewing witnesses, detectives said some sort of disagreement transpired between the suspect and Asher. Family members maintain the shooting was an accident.
Deputies said the suspect changed his story several times and attempted to concealed evidence.
