KIRKLAND, Wash. -- A 19-year-old soldier from Joint Base Lewis-McChord will be charged with the murder of a Kirkland woman.

Dakota M. Wolf, 19, is currently in custody at JBLM for going absent without leave (AWOL) from the base.

Kirkland Police announced Thursday that Wolf should be charged with first degree murder for the death of Scarlett Paxton.

He was said to be a person of interest in the case earlier in the week.

Paxton, 19, was found stabbed to death outside her apartment on November 30. She had gone for a walk with her boyfriend, and the two went separate ways home. When Paxton's boyfriend returned to the apartment they shared, he found her with a severe stab wound to her neck.

Wolf was taken into military custody later that day.

Officers said they are exploring a link between Paxton and Wolf.

Kirkland Police said a transfer of custody will occur between King County and JBLM.
