After an hour of tracking, a Puyallup police K-9 located a suspect who was interrupted while trying to break into a safe on Friday.

K-9 Maverick found the suspect hiding in a garbage can. The thief ran away after an employee entered the business in the 1600 block of East Main.

The search included a large swamp area and did cause slight disruptions to Sounder train service in Puyallup.

Police tweeted that Maverick would get to enjoy a steak dinner.
