A Montana man suspected in the killing of a Kirkland mother of two more than 16 years ago has been arrested.
Sandi Johnson, 28, disappeared on April 26, 1996.
reports Johnson was supposed to run some errands and meet a friend at Bellevue Square for lunch. She never showed up.
Her body was found along Highway 410 on August 25, 2004.
Detectives from the King County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit arrested the 59-year-old suspect Monday in Montana. The sheriff’s office said he was a co-worker of Johnson’s.
"This proves what can be done with a dedicated cold case unit that follows-up on leads and conducts thorough investigations," said King County Sheriff John Urquhart. "The Sheriff's Office remains committed to finding ways to seek justice in murder cases, no matter how much time has passed.”
The suspect will be extradited to King County to face charges.
