A Key Peninsula woman is accused of paying a felon $10,000 to kill her son-in-law, who she claimed was abusing her daughter.
The body of Leon Dwayne Bauchman, 33, of Puyallup was found by a couple walking their dog on July 12.
The News Tribune reports Jacqueline Rena Ray, 49, and Luis Brea Barker, 37, pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder each. Each count is for allegedly killing Bauchman intentionally and as part of a kidnapping scheme. Although they can be convicted on both counts, they can only be sentenced for one.
Ray allegedly told investigators that she wanted Bauchman killed because he was abusing her daughter and was afraid he might kill her.
