OAK HARBOR, Wash. -- Police arrested a man late Monday suspected of killing two elderly men in Island County.
Suspect Joshua David Lambert was arrested in a wooded area of Oak Harbor, near Northwest Crosby Avenue and North Oak Harbor Street, Island County Sheriff Mark Brown reported.
Lambert, 30, is a suspect in the stabbing deaths of two elderly men, both over age 70. A family member said the victims are Lambert's grandfathers. Their identiies have not yet been released.
The bodies of the men were found at separate residences. One of the crime scenes is located on the 1700 block of Hastie Lake Road; the other is located on Oldenburg Lane.
Exact details surrounding the homicides have not been made public yet.
Prior to the suspect's arrest, a tip suggested he may have been seen near a business in the city of La Conner. La Conner was placed into lockdown for a search, but neither Lambert or a crime scene was found there..
According to a witness, police focused their search on a business called Ruby Sue's Tea Shop, which is owned by a member of Lambert's family. A witness at that location told KING 5 News officers broke a window during their investigation.
Sheriff Brown said Lambert is well known to law enforcement in the area. Lambert has an extensive criminal history.
