Military families struggling during the government shutdown got a little help this week.

Sam's Club waived membership requirements for all military personnel, retirees and their families at each of their 627 U.S. stores.

According to Sam's Club, thousands of families from Anchorage to Tampa took advantage of offer.

This comes while military commissaries are closed across the country.

A representative for Sam's Club said the program will continue until commissaries are reopened.
