Researchers supported by the Washington Toxics Coalition and Safer States purchased brand-new items to obtain up-to-date information on flame retardants in children’s products currently for sale. The researchers selected foam-containing baby and children’s items from major retailers including Babies R Us, Target, Walmart, and Sears, in six states. Samples of the foam from each of these products were sent to Dr. Heather Stapleton’s research laboratory at Duke University for testing.
