Darren Jacobs works pretty hard. He studies for his college classes during the day and works on Boeing's 777 at night.
But his life hit some turbulence when he went to make a $1000 online payment to his US Bank credit card.
"The error screen came up and said, 'We're sorry, session timed out, please try again,'" said Darren.
And that's exactly what Darren did. He entered in the same payment for a second time.
Afterward, he found his $1,000 payment turned into a $2,000 payment.
"That's not what I meant to do," said Jason.
Darren contacted US Bank where he has both a credit card and checking account. He tried speaking to a real person many times and got transferred around.
He also wrote a couple e-mails.
Still, no one could put that grand back.
But Darren didn't give up; he got in touch with me.
And when I called US Bank, they were happy to reverse the $1000 extra credit card payment.
Now Darren's glad to have his life, and his finances flying right.
"Say, I didn't have a thousand dollar cushion in there. That would have been lots of overdraft charges and what not," he said.
The US Bank couldn't do anything until the payment was posted and the money was actually taken out of Darren's account. Usually that happens on the same day, but because Darren paid on a Friday, it took longer.
If this happens to you, keep an eye on your account activity, and as soon as it posts, call your credit card company.
