A three-alarm fire destroyed a warehouse in Lakewood Tuesday morning.

Flames were spotted shooting out of Grandwood Furniture, located at 7505 52 Avenue West, around 6:00 a.m.

Firefighters used ladder trucks to raise hoses above the warehouse's roof, spraying water down onto the facility.

The shop's employees hadn't yet arrived to work when flames ripped through the building, its concrete walls acting like an oven.

The fire was controlled by 8:21 a.m.

Wood furniture, appliances and items like bedding are housed at the facility. Grandwood Furniture is located directly across from Mt. Tahoma High School.

The owner of the business said all of his inventory and equipment is likely gone.

"He had, I want to say, a dozen people that worked for him,” said property owner Gary Monnette. "It’s a death in the family is what it is, I guess that's how to put it."

Firefighters do not yet know what caused the fire.
