TACOMA -- Detectives always knew there was another man involved in a 2012 alleged murder-for-hire plot. Last week, prosecutors said they got their man.
Pierce County deputies arrested J.R. Leather Child Friday afternoon on murder charges.
Child, 23, appeared before a judge Monday. Prosecutors expect to charge him with the murder of Leon Bauchman later this week.
Bauchman’s mother-in-law, Jacqueline Rena Ray, was arrested for the murder last summer along with Luis Rea Barker.
Prosecutors said Ray paid Barker $10,000 to attack Bauchman.
Ray told police Bauchman had been abusive towards her daughter, and Ray feared Bauchman might kill her someday.
Prosecutors would not say what led deputies to arresting Child more than a year after the killing.
Police found Bauchman’s body on the Key Peninsula near Wauna in July of 2012.
He had been shot in the back and his eyes, feet and ankles were wrapped in duct tape.
