TACOMA, Wash. - Open for business is usually a good sign, but on the 9200 block of Pacific Avenue one trade has become more than just a nighttime nuisance.  Neighbors complain that prostitution plagues the area at all hours on a daily basis.

Cynthia Ramirez has lived nearby for 45 years.  "I'm a mother. I don't like that, I don't condone it. It's bringing more drugs to the area," said Ramirez.

Tacoma police are trying to curb the activity.  Thursday night they pulled off a successful sting. Undercover officers posed as prostitutes and arrested 12 Johns, according to police

"I like it when they set up strings because we need to make it go away," said Ramirez.

Tacoma police are conducting string operations one to two times every couple months, according to public information officer Mark Fulghum.
