Tacoma Public Utilities say it will take most of Wednesday to restore power to parts of downtown Tacoma.

The power is out between South 17th Street and South 19th Street along Commerce Street.

An underground transformer blew at South 17th and Commerce just after 9:00 p.m. last night.

About 30 customers are without power, but a number of intersections have gone dark because of the outage. Drivers should treat intersections without power as four-way stops.

Sound Transit's Tacoma Link Lightrail is in service.

Parts of the University of Washington Tacoma campus are also without power.
