A Tacoma man turned himself into police Thursday morning after claiming he killed his father.
Tacoma Police spokesman Mark Fulghum said the man showed up at the Pierce County Jail with his sister just after 4 a.m. and told jailers what he had done.
Officers went to the suspect's house at North 9th Street and Union Avenue and found the man's 56-year-old father dead in his bedroom, the apparent victim of blunt force trauma, Fulghum said.
The suspect told officers his father had just woken up when he murdered him, according to Sergeant Fulghum. Detectives are still trying to determine what lead to the killing.
The suspect is jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder.
