Firefighters rescued a person stranded at the top of a cliffside in Point Defiance Park Tuesday night.
The Tacome Fire Department said the person had climbed the hillside near the Gig Harbor lookout area in the dark as the tide came up. However, the final stretch was vertical and impassible.
Crews responded to the call at 7:33 p.m. Using a high-angle rope rescue system, one firefighter went over the edge to harness the person and pull them to safety.
The individual was not injured and was released from the scene.
