A White Center woman was kicked, punched and shoved but would not allow a man to abduct her 3-year-old son.
The woman, who asked we not show her face or use her last name, said she and her family were preparing for a barbeque in their back yard Sunday night in the 10400 block of 3rd Avenue Southwest.
She was racing ahead of her son to the garden to get strawberries she was bumped by a man. He was dressed all in black with a black face mask, and ran past her carrying her son under his arm.
The woman, who said her name is Melissa, started chasing the man. He tripped and fell down, and her her son came loose. Melissa dove on top of the toddler to keep the man from picking him up.
That’s when the man started kicking and punching her and she started punching back but would not let go of her son. Finally the man fled.
That was last night. Today Melissa is sporting a shiner on her eye but has her child home safe and sound.
“That woman is a hero in my book,” said Sgt. Cindi West of the King County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies are scouring the area looking for clue but at this point do not have a good description of the suspect.
