The driver of a Scion died after the car was struck by a semi truck, a Washington State Patrol trooper said.
The left three lanes of southbound Interstate 405 are blocked just north of Interstate 90. The collision occurred just before 5 a.m.
According to State Patrol, the 24-year-old woman struck a deer then in the middle of the highway.
WSP Twitter account @wspd2pio tweeted that the victim called 911 at 4:34 a.m. after she struck the deer. The semi struck the scion at 4:37 a.m.
"It's not common but we have been seeing more deer in the urban areas," said Trooper Chris Webb. "Just recently, I remember two of them being struck in the Renton/SR 167 and I-405 area."
The car was still in the center of the freeway when it was hit by the semi. It's unknown if the car was disabled or not.
The driver of the semi was pulling an empty trailer and was not injured.
