The man who tackled an armed suspect attempting to rob Metro bus passengers spoke about his experience on the Today Show Friday.

Surveillance footage from a Seattle bus shows Casey Borgen pulling the pistol out of the way after it was pointed in his face. He then tackled the man and other passengers helped subdue the suspect.

"A lot of people thought that it was a conscious action to try and take him down but it was something that was pure instinct,” he told TODAY on Friday in an exclusive interview. “I recall thinking as it was happening, it was a bad idea. Once that happened, it was one of those things where it had to be carried to its logical (end).”

The attempted robbery occurred Nov. 25. One woman had already handed over her phone when the suspect approached Borgen, who was listening to music.

In the interviewed, Borgen said he had always imagined giving up his phone in that scenario, but "something came over me."

His actions surprised family, friends and especially his wife, as well as Borgen himself.

He told the Today Show that his routine hasn't changed and he still rides the bus.
