An 18-year-old old boy suffered serious injuries after a truck struck him as he was crossing Rainier Avenue South in Seattle's Rainier Valley Tuesday morning.
The accident happened around 7:16 a.m. at Rainier Avenue South at South Elmgrove Street.
Police said one vehicle travelling northbound stopped to allow the teen to cross the road, but a truck in the outside lane did not stop and struck the teen. The truck fled the scene without stopping to help or identifying him or herself.
The 18-year-old male was transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he was being treated for a serious head injury.
Police are asking the public's help in identifying the hit-and-run vehicle, described as a white, older Chevy pickup truck. A surveillance camera near the scene captured the suspect's white pickup truck, and witnesses at the scene were able to give a description of the driver, believed to be a white or Hispanic man, about 35-45 years old, who is either bald or has very short hair.
Anyone with information about this vehicle and or driver is asked to call 911.
